Having a goal of some sort is important to me to keep me going and keep me focussed. This doesn’t necessarily have to be fitness related. I like to set myself little goals in all aspects of my life- work, travel, health, social, etc. Having a well-rounded balance of all these things keeps me happy and healthy.
2016 has been a pretty good year (you can read all about it here) so 2017 is going to be a challenge to top it. But, I will give it one hell of a go!!
So, what are my goals for 2017 I hear you say?!
In May 2017 I am going to be running my first ever Half Marathon…scary! I definitely wouldn’t call myself a runner so this is a pretty big challenge for me. I have already kind-of started my training by doing some 3-5 mile runs but these haven’t been consistent. I will be putting together a plan for the New Year to incorporate running into my weekly routine. If any of you have any tips or advice on running then please let me know!
My next goal is to be able to deadlift 100kg again! I remember the feeling of being able to do this and I miss it! Building my strength back up is one of my top priorities in 2017.
Again, this is something as part of my strength training. I used to be able to do several unassisted pull-ups- now I can’t even do one! I am determined to smash this one, so much so that my husband and I even bought a pull up bar for home! 5 full unassisted pull-ups is the target.
Fruit and Veggies
Over the past few weeks I have been lacking in eating enough fruit and vegetables. I haven’t been eating badly but I just simply haven’t been eating properly. Adding loads more fruit and veg to my daily meals is at the top of my list.
This isn’t so much a goal that I need to achieve, it’s more of a continuous one. 2016 saw me completely change my outlook on health and fitness so I plan on continuing to be positive, happy and healthy throughout 2017.
This year we (me and Karl) are hoping to travel to somewhere hot and exotic! We got married last year and didn’t have a very long honeymoon as we decided we wanted to save ourselves for this year. So, we have a couple of places in mind but haven’t booked anything as of yet. Suggestions of places would be great J
This year I also want to travel back to where I am ‘technically’ from again. I was born and grew up in Mallorca. Even though I have been back several times for short breaks I would love to go for longer and show Karl the most beautiful and tranquil parts of the island.
Some of you may already know this but a couple of weeks ago I decided to make a pretty big decision- leaving my current job! I have worked with children since I left school at 16 (that’s 11 years!!) and have worked my way up the tree to do what I do now- manage a nursery. I am not going to go into detail about my reasons but it was a pretty tough decision and I have now made it. I will be working until the end of January and then that’s it! I currently don’t have anything else lined up but I’m not worried. I will be looking at re-training at some point but I am taking this time to decide what I really want to do.
In Feb 2017 my blog will be 1 year old! I have loved writing every word in my blog and I hope you guys enjoy it too! I will be continuing to write and blog throughout the whole of 2017 and I hope to reach many more of you too!
I will be continuing to write for Coco Pro and be a part of their team and continue to be part of the Sundried Clothing team too.
I would love the opportunity to write/blog/be part of other companies as well so maybe 2017 will be the year?!
Baking and cooking! Something I have missed doing so much! Developing my own recipes and playing with ingredients is something I really do love to do and just haven’t had the time for recently. Once I am done with my current job I will hopefully have a lot more time to be able to play with ingredients and bring you some tasty recipes!
